About Lelystad
Lelystad offers entrepreneurs plenty of opportunities: centrally located, with excellent accessibility and with room to grow. The city is working with developers and partners to create a strong and future-oriented logistics ecosystem. More and more national and international companies are establishing themselves here and showing what is possible.
This makes Lelystad interesting
A future-proof location with space, speed and strategic advantages
Thanks to its central location in the Netherlands, within the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area (MRA), and its excellent accessibility by road, water, rail and air, Flevoland’s capital city is an ideal starting point for fast and efficient distribution within both the Netherlands and Europe. In addition, Lelystad is an attractive location for port-related companies targeting Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp and the Ruhr area, partly due to the presence of TMA Multimodal‘s container terminal.
Lelystad stands out for its space and scalability, which have become scarce in many logistics regions. In addition, there is power at the locations offered, so manufacturing companies, cold storage facilities, companies looking to automate their logistics process (with or without a high-bay) can come to Lelystad.
The strong cooperation between developers, investors and the municipality ensures short lines of communication, transparent communication and a solid foundation to realize plans quickly and effectively.
“People looked at Lelystad a little suspiciously at first, but are now coming to realize that logistically it’s not a bad place at all.” Vincent Vierwind, managing director of construction company Goldbeck, sees that Lelystad’s business parks are becoming increasingly popular and that more and more companies are settling there. “In Lelystad there is still plenty of space,” he said.
“There is still plenty of room in Lelystad”
Jaap Wisse and Ton Spijkers moved their company Amex Logistics eight years ago from central Amersfoort to Lelystad, then unknown to them. A big step for the company, but they never regretted the choice of Lelystad for a second.
“The staff didn’t want to leave after one day.”
In the north of Lelystad, near the A6, one of the largest distribution centers in the Netherlands is rising: the new DC of JYSK at Flevokust Haven. The project is a powerful example of what Lelystad has to offer in terms of space, sustainable logistics and regional cooperation. The distribution center is already providing additional employment and will grow into one of the largest employers in the region in the coming years.
“Space to grow as well as work sustainably.”
